Three Generations of HVAC Service
Hard work, long hours, and a simple philosophy
40 years ago, my grandfather left the job of a lifetime working for General Electric. He packed up the family and moved everyone to Texas in search of something better.

You Should Know
We’re nothing like other companies
The move did more than raise a few eyebrows. My grandmother thought he might be crazy, and nobody, including my Dad, who was ten at the time, was happy about it.
The move to Texas wasn’t an option; it was an order. Grandpa was a Marine who survived a trip to the Korean War and had no trouble telling people what to do and getting things done.
He wasted no time. With a beat-up truck, a bunch of tools, and the family’s life savings, he started Action Air, and we’re all better off because of it.
Three generations later, we’re busier than ever and growing every year.
The most surprising thing about this business isn’t the fancy trucks, complicated equipment, or the technology. It’s the fact that the same philosophy that got us started hasn’t changed one bit.
Grandpa wasn’t the type to make signs, but if he did make one, here’s what it would say:
How to Run a Business
Keep your word
Be fair
Show up when you say you will
Don’t lie
Get in the truck, no matter what time it is
Do great work
Treat everyone like family

By the time my Dad took over, he’d probably heard those rules thousands of times. And over the years, I heard them plenty, but I also got a chance to see them in action.
Instead of selling lemonade or delivering newspapers, Dad gave me my first job when I was still in grade school. I felt like a superhero because I could get into small spaces and do things nobody else could. Ductwork that stumped guys on the crew became my speciality, and by the time I was done with school, I had earned my place on the team.
Dad lived by those rules Grandpa set, and I watched him practice them for over 20 years. He never got annoyed with customers, no matter how many questions they asked, and he always rolled out of bed when the phone rang, no matter what time it was.
He retired a few years ago, but his commitment to hard work and treating customers like family isn’t going anywhere. The work he and my Grandpa put in is something I’ll never forget.
When you search online for someone to help with your air and heating, there are bigger companies that have fancy ads, ridiculous coupons, and plenty of promises.
What that search won’t tell you is who’s the real deal and who’s just looking to make a buck. Consider this an invitation to hold us to our word. When we say we’re nothing like other companies, we mean it.
See why our customers tell their friends and neighbors about us.
See the difference 3 generations of treating people like family makes.
See the difference between Action Air and everyone else.
Sincerely,

See the difference going
the extra mile makes
From the first diagnostic call to the final system check, our technicians treat every job like it’s their own home on the line. Proper refrigerant levels, tight duct connections, accurate load calculations, and clean electrical connections aren’t extras at Action Air Services. They’re standard.
Residential HVAC
The Best of the Best
Did you know?
Your attic is hotter than Death Valley. Attics in DFW homes can reach 160°F in July. That heat pushes down through your ceiling and makes your AC work twice as hard.
About Action Air Services in Wylie TX
You ask.
We answer.
James Slayton owns and operates Action Air Services. James is a third-generation HVAC professional whose grandfather founded the company in 1986. His father continued the business, and James grew up learning the trade firsthand. He has over 35 years of personal hands-on experience in air conditioning and heating work.
Action Air Services is a locally owned, family-operated HVAC company based in Wylie TX. We are not a franchise, not a national chain, and not a call center operation. When you call, you are reaching a local team that lives and works in Collin County.
Three generations of family HVAC experience is our strongest differentiator. Most HVAC companies in the Wylie market have been operating for 5 to 15 years. Action Air Services has been in business since 1986, and James Slayton brings 35 plus years of hands-on experience. We also own all of our equipment rather than renting it, which keeps costs lower and scheduling more reliable.
Action Air Services holds a TDLR ACR contractor license, which is the Texas state license required for air conditioning and refrigeration work. This license requires four or more years of supervised experience and passing a state exam. Our technicians also carry EPA Section 608 certification, which is federally required for handling refrigerants under the Clean Air Act.
Yes. Every job we complete comes with a satisfaction guarantee. If something is not right, we will come back and make it right. We also honor manufacturer warranties on all equipment we install, including Trane, Amana, and Daikin systems.
James Slayton’s grandfather founded the company in 1986 in North Texas. The business passed from grandfather to father to James, with each generation building on the same foundation of honest work and fair pricing. As James puts it: Dad and grandad both taught me work ethic and honesty. Never short change the customer.
Yes. We serve residential homeowners and commercial businesses throughout Wylie and surrounding Collin County cities. Our TDLR Class A license allows us to work on any size HVAC unit with no tonnage or BTU restrictions, from single-family homes to offices and retail spaces.
